Do you think I should have quit?
I got this job back in mid Dec. worked there for about 6 weeks. I was a resturant hostess at Rubys diner. The job wasnt so bad just the managment. I worked long hours a day around 9 and wasnt told I could go on break which is illegal. The managers I worked with was so mean to me. Youre supposed to get an employ discount which is 50% off. My shift was over after working 9 long boring hours and I wanted something to eat, and he refused to give me and discount because I had already clocked out. He did this to me a few times but he gives the waitress's free meals all the time. Also I had to constantly stand at the front desk for9 hours every day with nothing to do Ocasionally I would go to the front of the house and talk to the servers and they would scream at me to get back to the front desk. Another host who hasnt been working here as long as I have gets to be a server before me. I know this was long and I apologize I would just like to get some opinions if I should regret quiting or not I already quit. And I dont have bills to pay at all. And No its Ruby's diner, its different. I could have made a huge deal. They have tons of illegal immigrants working there. The host that became a server before me was illegal, could hardly speak english.

- You are better than that. Don't take his crap. Quit and get a job who will appreciate your skills and loyality.
- Are you reffering to Ruby's Tuesday? Because you can get a lawsuit before you quit and find another job. Other than that, I would recommend finding a job before you quit. There's a lot of inequalities out there, but if you need the money to pay the bills, then you just gotta play the hand you're dealt with. [P.S. Lawsuits]
- First, find another job. Then quit. There are many other restaurants needing hostesses and servers but it is always better to have a job than not.
- Restaurant politics are a bitc*. You have to know how to "play the game." befriend the "right people." Did you pissed off the wrong people?
- Coming from a strong and lengthy stretch of time working in the restaurant field, I have to say, firstly, that your experience is very commonplace. You felt like you weren't being treated fairly. There are a lot of people who feel that way, and a lot of them subsequently quit as a result. It sounds to me that perhaps there were some other issues on the radar that you left out. I guess my only suggestion is to stand up for yourself and talk to the person that should help you (manager or general manager). People respect when you follow the chain of command when having a grievance. Best of luck in finding a job that is more suited to you. While you're waiting for that next interview, check out Steven Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. You might want to follow his suggestions, but it's very good at showing how some people treat others and manage themselves.
- i think you are better off working at another place where you are treated as a human, not a work-a-holic!
